To me, music is joy and happiness, which can also be found in the saddest of emotions.
I was at a friend’s funeral. He was loved by many, and an inspirational person and musician. The brass band was playing the slowest, saddest dirge, which would be the first part of a funeral procession, and those who weren’t playing were singing and clapping their hands in unity. It was a beautiful street symphony lifting his spirit and soul to the heavens.
Hearing all this in the context of celebrating this wonderful man’s life, gave me great peace and comfort. It was the sound of joy and happiness, even on a sad day.
