I Can't Believe I'm Playing Tipitina's

I Can’t Believe I’m Playing Tipitina’s

Friday, April 2nd
John “Papa” Gros TRIO with Matt Booth & Russ Broussard
Live at Tipitina’s!

Two Shows: 7pm & 9:30pm

After 13 months and 31 GroSTREAMS, I am finally playing an indoor show. But not any indoor show, I am playing the home of Professor Longhair, the house that The Neville Brothers, Dr. John, and The Radiators built, owned by my good friends in Galactic and THE Cultural Church of New Orleans Funk, Soul, Blues, R&B and Rock-n-Roll. I am playing my music in THE LEGENDARY TIPITINA’S.

There will be a lot of emotions coming off the stage, but fortunately for me Matt Booth (bass) and Russ Broussard (drums) will be there to keep me in check and I will do the same for them. Anticipation and excitement are in the air, not only around our Tipitina’s show but all over New Orleans. Even Keith Spera of the Times Picayune wrote about it today. You don’t have to look too hard to find outdoor shows, neighborhood porch concerts, a Piano on a Truck, Drive-in Shows and a few indoor shows, which I am fortunate to play.  It feels like a rebirth much like it did in the spring of 2006 after Hurricane Katrina.

It’s important to adhere to the Covid-19 protocols and guidelines so that we can keep this good news coming.  We are ready to get down with our family and friends like we use to do.  It will come in due time.  But for now, I’m honored to help usher in the rebirth of Tipitina’s.

Come join us because it’s takes a village to raise the roof and I can’t do it alone.
