Personally for me, Allen Toussaint validated me as a New Orleans songwriter and musician and told me that I was part of the lineage of the great New Orleans piano players. He really liked my songs “Yes Ma’am” and “Back Home.”

I evaluate myself by asking: Do I like what I am writing and playing? Does it represent me? Does it represent my family. Does it represent New Orleans? Those are the only questions. It's really that simple.
